In honor of outer space week, I give you the untouchable Mr. John Rocco! A longtime illustration idol of mine, John Rocco is best known for illustrating the covers of the Percy Jackson books. But his children's books rock my socks off. He has a remarkable sense of space, color, and character development, and I want to be him when I grow up. The piece above is from his 2008 book with Hyperion, Moonpowder. He has a new book out right now called Blackout, which looks fantastic!
