Summer Camp Inspiration: John Steven Gurney

In honor of this week's theme(Summer Camp!) let's all jump back to middle school and recall this fantastic series of YA novels: The Bailey School Kids. Werewolves Don't Go To Summer Camp was one of my favorites (although I was particularly partial to Mermaids Don't Run Track). Most importantly, none of these books would possibly have been the same if not for their gorgeous cover art. And the man behind the curtain in that respect is the incomparable John Steven Gurney! Gurney has illustrated over 100 books for children, not limited to the entire Bailey School series.




90's graphic design decisions aside, that there is a beautiful painting. Hats off to Mr. Gurney.
