Feast your eyes on the magnificent work of Kadir Nelson.
Two-time Caldecott winner and all-around illustration beast, Kadir Nelson is best known for his 2008 award-winning picture book We Are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball. Nelson is not only one of the most gifted painters I can think of, but also one of the most gifted storytellers. If you haven't seen this book, please get yourself to a library. Above is a painting of Willie Foster, hall-of-fame pitcher. And what a tall drink of water he is.
See more of Kadir's work on his website. Or, you know, in any Barnes and Nobles in the Western World.
