I don't know what's more gorgeous than mid-century illustration, and few artists make me feel more patriotic than Bernie Fuchs. He's known for advertising art, editorial illustration, children's books, and a series of postage stamps. But his work with Sports Illustrated is some of my favorite work ever. At one point he was named "sport artist of the year" by the American Sport Art Museum and Archives. (Where is this place and can I go there?)
Anyway, this is a piece for Sports Illustrated of (I think) Sandy Koufax. Check out more of Bernie Fuch's work on flickr!
Take me out to the ballgame!
